Product Overview +
One ASI Channel Over Fiber
Coaxial cable runs out of headroom long before a transport stream needs to stop. The F-1ASI is a copper-to-fiber adapter for a single DVB-ASI or SD-SDI signal, used by broadband and broadcast operators to move streams between headends, studios and transmitter sites. A transmitter at one end and a receiver at the other make up the link, with no change to the feeding equipment.
Transport Stream to Optical Carrier
Conversion takes the digital band of the transport stream, places it on an optical carrier, and recovers it at the far end. Listed applications include SMPTE 295M, SDI or D1, SMPTE 310M, MPEG-2, SMPTE 305 and 540 Mbps HDTV streams, along with video on demand feeds. Power and optical signal detect LEDs on the front panel show at a glance whether the link is up.
Copper and Optical Connections
The copper side uses 75 ohm BNC on RG-59, and the optical port is ST/PC as standard with SC/PC or SC/APC available as options. Single-mode transmission uses 9/125 micron fiber. The unit is built for single-mode runs up to 120 km or multimode runs of about 2000 feet, and CWDM or DWDM optics can be specified where several services share one strand.
Rack Chassis and Power
The enclosure measures 480 x 225 x 44 mm, which is a standard single rack unit for a 19-inch frame. Power is internal and auto-sensing across 110/240 V, so no external adapter is needed in the rack. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees C with storage from -20 to 70 degrees C. Compliance covers FCC Part 15 Class A, CE, UL, CUL and TUV.
Matching Transmitter and Receiver
Each link is ordered as a matched pair of units. F-1ASI-Tx-MM and F-1ASI-Rx-MM cover 2000 feet of multimode fiber, while F-1ASI-Tx-40 and F-1ASI-Rx-40 cover 40 km single-mode routes, with longer-haul transmitters listed for extended spans. Headend interconnects, studio-to-transmitter links and IPTV contribution are the usual applications. StreamPort Media can match the transmitter and receiver codes to your route length and optical connector standard.
