The F-GET-TR-SM joins 10/100/1000 Base-T equipment to single-mode fiber using a duplex SC connector, extending a Gigabit segment far past the copper limit. It is the single-mode member of the F-GET-TR series, with a multimode sibling for shorter in-building runs. The usual job is connecting IP devices or network segments at two locations, such as separate buildings or a remote equipment room.

The converter meets IEEE 802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE 802.3z 1000Base-SX/LX. The RJ45 port handles auto MDI/MDI-X and automatic polarity correction, so cable type and pair order do not matter during installation.
