Product Overview +
Copper to Fiber With SFP
Project fiber is rarely uniform: one site has multimode risers, another has a long single-mode route. The F-GET-TR-SFP sidesteps the problem by converting 10/100/1000 Mbps copper Ethernet to fiber through a standard SFP slot, so one converter adapts to the installed plant simply by fitting a different optic. The copper connection stays transparent to the network above it.
Standards and Transparent Operation
Operation is full duplex and compliant with IEEE 802.3 10BASE-T, 802.3u 100BASE-TX and 802.3ab 1000BASE-T. The converter passes traffic transparently between the copper and optical segments, so no addressing or VLAN changes are needed when it is inserted into an existing link. Four LED indicators report power, fiber port link and activity, copper port link and activity, and 1000 Mbps operation.
Pluggable Optics and Media
The copper port is an RJ-45 female connector and the optical side is simplex LC/PC fed by the SFP module. Multimode modules cover roughly 3000 feet and single-mode modules cover 20, 40, 80 or 120 km, at 850, 1310 or 1550 nm, with CWDM and DWDM SFPs also usable. Network media is 62.5/125 micron multimode or single-mode fiber cable.
Internal Power and Approvals
Power is handled internally with a 110/240 V auto-sensing supply, so no external adapter has to be mounted or replaced behind the rack. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees C with storage from -20 to 70 degrees C. Registrations include FCC Part 15 Class A, CE, UL, CUL and TUV, which simplifies acceptance on regulated sites such as hospitals, airports and government buildings.
Model Numbers and Typical Uses
Ordering codes follow the fiber type: F-GET-TR-SFP-MM for multimode duplex fiber, F-GET-TR-SFP for single-mode, and F-GET-TR-SFP-40 and F-GET-TR-SFP-80 for longer single-mode routes. Camera backhaul, building-to-building LAN links, CWDM aggregation and broadcast facility IT are common uses. Send StreamPort Media your fiber type, distance and connector, and the matching SFP can be supplied with the converter.
