Product Overview +

High-Count Analog AV over Fiber

Large legacy installations can carry dozens of analog feeds between buildings, and running that many coaxial and audio pairs is rarely practical. The Thor F-16V32A moves 16 baseband composite video channels and 32 analog audio channels across a single fiber strand using a matched transmitter and receiver. Optical transport also breaks ground loops and ignores electrical interference, which matters on long runs between separate structures or across an industrial site.

Ten-Bit Sampling and Link Quality

Each video input is sampled at 10 bits, carried digitally and rebuilt as analog at the far end, so picture quality does not drift with cable length. The system works with NTSC, PAL and SECAM, offers video bandwidth from 10 Hz to 6.5 MHz and 67 dB SNR, and keeps differential phase under 1 degree and differential gain under 0.5 percent. Channel capacity can be expanded in the field to 32 video and 64 audio channels.

Connections, Wavelengths and Reach

Video inputs are 1 Vp-p at 75 ohms, and audio connects through 600 ohm terminal blocks rather than individual connectors, which keeps a 32-channel panel manageable. On the optical side the transmitter outputs -5 dBm and the receiver is rated at -30 dBm sensitivity. Wavelength selection sets the distance: 1310 nm covers 40 km, while 1550 nm, CWDM and DWDM options extend links from 80 km out to 120 km.

Chassis, Power and Environment

Each unit measures 480 mm by 225 mm by 44 mm, a 1RU 19-inch footprint that drops into a standard rack at both ends of the link. Power is an internal auto-sensing supply accepting 110 or 240 V, so the same hardware suits either mains standard without a selector switch. The equipment operates from 0 to 50 degrees C and is stored between -20 and 70 degrees C, with operating humidity starting at 10 percent.

Ordering Codes and Typical Sites

Transmitters and receivers are ordered separately by fiber type and distance. Thor lists F-16V32A-Tx-MM and F-16V32A-Rx-MM for multimode links to 2 km, and F-16V32A-Tx-40 with F-16V32A-Rx-40 for 40 km single-mode routes. Stadiums, campuses, traffic monitoring centers, CCTV backbones and broadcast contribution links are the usual homes for this density. Configurations are quoted per project, so confirm fiber type and route length before the part numbers are fixed.
