Product Overview +
Two Independent ASI Pipes
The F-2ASI gives a site two fully independent DVB-ASI or SD-SDI paths across one fiber. Each channel is separate, so one can carry a transport stream while the other carries SD-SDI video; both are multiplexed at the transmitter and split apart again at the receiver. Compared with two single-channel links, this halves the fiber count and the rack space required at each end.
Rates and Signal Handling
Each channel accepts data rates from 0.5 Mbps to 622 Mbps, covering SMPTE 295M, SMPTE 310M, SMPTE 305, MPEG-2 and 540 Mbps HDTV applications as well as video on demand streams. Inputs are equalized, so moderate lengths of coax ahead of the unit do not compromise the signal. Front panel LEDs report power and optical signal detect for quick fault isolation.
Port Count and Optical Media
Connections are two 75 ohm BNC ports and one optical port, ST/PC as standard with SC/PC or SC/APC optional. Copper transmission media is 75 ohm RG-59 and optical media is 9/125 micron single-mode fiber. The standard range is 20 km, extending to about 110 km with long-haul optics, while multimode versions cover short in-building distances between floors or adjacent buildings.
Frame Size and Supply
The chassis is 480 x 225 x 44 mm, a single rack unit for a 19-inch frame, powered by an internal 110/240 V auto-sensing supply. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees C and storage is -20 to 70 degrees C. Regulatory compliance covers FCC Part 15 Class A, CE, UL, CUL and TUV, which keeps acceptance straightforward in broadcast and telecom facilities.
Choosing Fiber Type and Range
Multimode links use F-2ASI-Tx-MM with F-2ASI-Rx-MM for 2 km, and single-mode links use F-2ASI-Tx-40 with F-2ASI-Rx-40 for 40 km, with a longer-haul transmitter listed for extended routes. Headend-to-hub transport, satellite downlink distribution, IPTV contribution and studio-to-transmitter paths are typical applications for the pair. StreamPort Media can supply the matched transmitter and receiver once the fiber type and route distance are confirmed.
