Two HD Cameras on One Fiber

Entrance and exit lanes, paired perimeter views and twin cameras on a remote building all create the same requirement: two HD feeds from one position. The Thor F-2HD-TVI-TxRx multiplexes two analog HD camera signals onto a single fiber strand, supporting HD-TVI and HD-CVI at up to 1080p. Only one fiber is consumed between the camera position and the recorder, which matters where spare strands are scarce.

Uncompressed Transport and Return Control

Both channels travel uncompressed, so nothing is lost to encoding and there is no added delay between camera and monitor. An optional reverse data channel carries RS485, RS422 or RS232 at 1200 to 9600 bit/s in half-duplex, full-duplex or RS-232 mode, allowing camera control from the receiving end. The units are plug and play: no electronic or optical adjustment is required once the fiber and coaxial tails are connected.

Connections, Levels and Optical Reach

The transmitter has two BNC inputs at 75 ohm accepting levels above 500 mVp-p, and the receiver two BNC outputs at 1 Vp-p into 75 ohm. The optical interface is ST/PC on single-mode fiber with a standard reach of 20 km and options from 0 to 80 km, or about 2000 feet over multimode. LOS, PWR and VIDEO indicators report link, power and video presence at each end.

Enclosure, Power and Reliability

Each unit measures roughly 6 5/8 inches wide by 4.5 inches deep by 1.25 inches high, with mounting dimensions of 6.25 by 2.5 inches, so it fits inside a camera cabinet or on a shelf under the recorder. Power is 5 V DC at 5 W or less for each unit. Thor quotes MTBF above 100,000 hours, and the pair needs no cooling beyond normal cabinet ventilation.

Pairs of perimeter cameras, entrance and exit lanes, remote buildings, car parks and road monitoring points are the usual applications. Specify whether PTZ control data is required so the correct code goes on the order.
