Product Overview +

Two Video Channels on One Fiber

When a pair of camera or program feeds with their audio has to cross a site, the Thor F-2V4A-TxRx-RM carries all of it on a single fiber. The matched transmitter and receiver handle two composite video channels and four analog audio channels together. Replacing long coaxial and audio copper with one optical strand removes the level loss and electrical noise that otherwise accumulate across distance, and keeps the cabling in the duct manageable.

Uncompressed Transport and Expansion

Each video input is sampled at 10 bits and carried uncompressed, so the receiver rebuilds the original analog waveform rather than a re-encoded approximation. NTSC, PAL and SECAM are supported, video bandwidth runs from 10 Hz to 6.5 MHz with 67 dB SNR, and differential phase and gain stay under 1 degree and 0.5 percent. Audio capacity can be taken from four channels to eight as an option when the system grows.

Interfaces, Optical Power and Reach

Video arrives at 1 Vp-p on 75 ohm inputs, while the four audio channels use 600 ohm terminal blocks that accept balanced or unbalanced sources. Transmitter optical output is -5 dBm against -30 dBm receiver sensitivity, giving a usable link budget on typical routes. Wavelength determines distance: 1310 nm for 40 km links, with 1550 nm, CWDM and DWDM versions covering 80 km through 120 km on single-mode fiber.

Rack Fit, Power and Temperature

The chassis measures 480 mm by 225 mm by 44 mm, occupying one rack unit in a 19-inch frame at each end of the link. An internal auto-sensing power supply accepts 110 or 240 V, so the same unit installs anywhere without a voltage selector or an external brick. Operating temperature runs from 0 to 50 degrees C with storage from -20 to 70 degrees C, and operating humidity starts at 10 percent.

Ordering Codes and Typical Sites

Transmitter and receiver are separate line items. Thor lists F-2V4A-Tx-MM and F-2V4A-Rx-MM for multimode links of about 2 km, and F-2V4A-Tx-40 with F-2V4A-Rx-40 for 40 km single-mode routes. CCTV systems, campus and venue video links, traffic and security monitoring, and broadcast feeds built around composite equipment are the usual applications. Match the code to the installed fiber type before ordering, since multimode and single-mode builds are not interchangeable.
