Four HD Feeds on Fiber

Camera clusters at a gatehouse, a warehouse yard or a car park usually arrive in groups of four, far from the recorder that serves them. The Thor F-4HD-TVI-TxRx carries four analog HD video signals over a single fiber, accepting HD-TVI, HD-CVI and AHD at up to 1080p as well as standard CVBS. Mixed installations where older composite cameras sit beside newer HD units are therefore handled by the same pair.

Uncompressed Video with Reverse Control

All four channels travel uncompressed, so the recorder sees the original camera picture without encoder latency. A reverse RS485 channel, with RS422 and RS232 as options, lets operators control the cameras from the receiving end at 1200 to 9600 bit/s in half-duplex, full-duplex or RS-232 mode. Setup requires no adjustment: the automated plug-and-play design means the link comes up as soon as power, coax and fiber are connected.

Inputs, Outputs and Fiber Reach

The transmitter provides four independent BNC inputs at 75 ohm with levels above 500 mVp-p, and the receiver four BNC outputs at 1 Vp-p into 75 ohm. The optical port is ST/PC on single-mode fiber with 20 km standard and options from 0 to 80 km, or about 2000 feet over multimode. LOS, PWR and VIDEO indicators at each end show whether a fault sits in the optics, the supply or one camera.

Power, Supplies and Reliability

Each unit runs from 5 V DC at 1 A, and Thor includes the power supplies with the kit, so no separate adapter has to be sourced for the camera end. Consumption is 5 W or less per unit, which is easy to carry on a small UPS in a roadside or yard cabinet. MTBF is quoted above 100,000 hours, and no forced cooling is required in a ventilated enclosure.

Versions and Typical Deployments

F-4HD-TVI-TX/RX is the four-channel HD-CVI, AHD and HD-TVI kit for 20 km on single-mode fiber, while F-4HD-1D-TVI-TX/RX adds the reversed RS485 path from receiver to transmitter for controlling the source devices. Remote camera clusters at gates, car parks, warehouses, highways and campus buildings are the usual positions. Both versions ship as matched pairs, so a link needs only one part number.
