IPTV Reception Without Manual Setup

The Thor Broadcast ThoriumIP-BOX is an IPTV set-top box built to make television distribution quick to install. Conventional IPTV receivers often need multicast addresses or playlists entered on every unit. The ThoriumIP-BOX instead finds the channels coming from compatible ThoriumIP encoders on the local network, so each television can be connected and in use within minutes.

How the ThoriumIP-BOX Works

Connect the box to the same Ethernet network as your ThoriumIP encoders, link it to the TV with an HDMI cable and plug in the supplied 12 V adapter. The receiver then searches the network, builds its channel list automatically and shows each channel under the name assigned at the encoder. There is no stream address to type in and no playlist to load.

Network and Video Capabilities

The box has one RJ45 Ethernet port with DHCP addressing and receives UDP/RTP streams in multicast or unicast. Video leaves through a single HDMI output at 1080p, and a four-digit LED display on the front shows local status. A front USB port accepts FAT32 drives for firmware updates, and a rear reset button restores default settings.

Simple Operation in Every Room

The included infrared remote handles the channel list, channel up and down, volume and mute, on-screen menus and stream information, so viewers use it like any standard TV box. An external IR receiver can be connected when the box is hidden behind a screen, and the compact 152 × 115 × 37 mm enclosure fits easily behind or beside a television.

Applications and System Options

The ThoriumIP-BOX suits hotels and resorts, hospitals, schools and universities, corporate offices, sports bars and multi-room residential buildings. It works with ThoriumIP-12 and ThoriumIP-4K HDMI encoders, and larger sites can add the optional ThoriumIP-CMC central management controller. A ThoriumIP-BOX-4K version with 4K UHD output is in development.
