Product Overview +
Uplink Modulation With Redundancy
An uplink that drops off air because one transport stream failed is an expensive outage. The H-4ASI-DVBS2 accepts an encoded stream over ASI or IP and modulates it onto a DVB-S or DVB-S2 carrier, holding three further ASI inputs as hot backups. If the active feed develops errors, the modulator switches to a standby input and the carrier stays up.
Coding, Clocking and Control
ASI inputs accept both 188 and 204 byte transport packets, and an RF input is available for mixing. Single frequency network operation is supported with MIP or IIP. A 10 MHz clock reference enters on BNC so the modulator locks to the station frequency standard, and 24 V can be fed out on the RF port. Operation is local via LCD and buttons, or remote through the web NMS.
Inputs, Outputs and RF Range
The input side combines four ASI ports with one 100 Mbps UDP transport stream on RJ-45. Outputs are one DVB-S/S2 RF carrier, two mirrored ASI outputs and an MPTS IP output over UDP on the same 100 Mbps interface. RF covers 950 to 2150 MHz in 10 kHz steps, with level adjustment from -10 to -41.5 dBm and MER of 36 dB or better.
Rack Fit and Supply
The chassis measures 482 x 300 x 44 mm, a single rack unit, and weighs 3.5 kg. Power is 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz drawing around 20 W. Operating temperature is 0 to 45 degrees C with storage from -20 to 80 degrees C, which suits both an air-conditioned teleport and a DSNG vehicle parked on location. The control interface is in English.
L-Band or IF Output
Two part numbers are listed: H-4ASI-DVBS2 for 950 to 2100 MHz L-band output, and H-4ASI-DVBS2-IF for 50 to 200 MHz IF where an external upconverter follows. Fixed uplink stations, DSNG trucks, teleports and contribution links needing input redundancy are the intended users. The unit pairs with an upstream encoder or multiplexer, and StreamPort Media quotes it per project.
