Product Overview +
Modular Platform For Mixed Signals
Few sites carry only one kind of traffic. The F-CHASSIS is a card-based transport frame that combines video, data, audio and telecom services onto a single fiber instead of dedicating a strand to each service. Modules are selected for the services required, installed in the frame, and the built-in optical multiplexer does the combining. The result is fewer fibers in use and one place to manage the link.
Chassis Layout and Multiplexing
Chassis are offered in four-bay and eight-bay versions, and an internal power supply feeds every card installed, so individual modules need no adapters of their own. Optical multiplexing is built in and can be WDM, CWDM or DWDM depending on how many services share the strand and how far they travel. Wavelengths in the 1310 and 1550 nm bands are used, and redundant power is an option.
Available Card Interfaces
Module choices cover DVB-ASI and SMPTE 310M on 75 ohm BNC, HD-SDI and SD-SDI on 75 ohm BNC, one video with two audio or two video with four audio on BNC and 600 ohm terminal blocks, Gigabit and 10/100 Ethernet on RJ45, T1/E1 on RJ48, RS-232 on DB-9, CATV RF from 45 to 870 MHz, and L-band from 850 to 2700 MHz on BNC.
Rack Space and Environment
The frame measures 480 x 225 x 178 mm, suiting a standard 19-inch rack with depth to spare for fiber management behind the modules. Power is 120/240 V with optional redundancy. Operating temperature runs from 0 to 50 degrees C and storage from -20 to 70 degrees C, with humidity from 0 to 90 percent in both cases, so a normally ventilated equipment room is sufficient.
Building a System To Order
A configuration is defined by bay count, multiplexing type and the module mix at each end, and services can be added later by fitting more cards. Studio-to-transmitter links, stadiums, headend interconnects, teleports and enterprise networks are typical uses. No fixed ordering codes are published for the platform, so configurations are quoted per project; send StreamPort Media the signal list for each end and the route distance.
