Product Overview +
Modular Multi-Signal Fiber Platform
Dedicating a fiber pair to each service wastes capacity that is often expensive or simply unavailable. The Thor F-CHASSIS is a card-based platform that combines many different signal types onto one strand, using WDM, CWDM or DWDM multiplexing in the 1310 and 1550 nm bands. Video, audio, Ethernet, SDI, DVB-ASI, serial data, CATV RF and L-band can all share the same route between two sites.
Cards, Multiplexing and Growth
The chassis is offered in four-bay and eight-bay versions, and a built-in optical multiplexer combines the outputs of the installed cards. Because capacity is added as modules, a site can start with the services it needs today and populate remaining bays later without redesigning the optical link. That also means a mixed payload, such as a couple of video feeds alongside a network trunk, lives in one managed enclosure.
Card Interfaces and Signal Types
Available cards cover DVB-ASI and SMPTE 310M on 75 ohm BNC, HD-SDI and SD-SDI on BNC, one video with two audio or two video with four audio using BNC and 600 ohm terminal blocks, Gigabit and 10/100 Ethernet on RJ45, T1/E1 on RJ48, RS-232 on DB-9, CATV RF from 45 to 870 MHz and L-band from 850 to 2700 MHz on BNC.
Power, Dimensions and Conditions
A single internal power supply feeds every installed card, running on 120 or 240 V with optional redundancy where a second supply is required for critical links. The chassis measures 480 mm by 225 mm by 178 mm. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees C with storage from -20 to 70 degrees C, and both operating and storage humidity are rated from 0 to 90 percent, which suits normal equipment rooms.
Specifying a System
Studio to transmitter links, stadium and campus backbones, headend interconnects and contribution circuits mixing video, audio and network traffic are the typical deployments. Thor lists the platform as F-CHASSIS, with the card mix, bay count and wavelength plan set per project rather than sold as a fixed configuration, so it is quoted rather than priced. Share the signal list, distances and installed fiber type with StreamPort Media to have a build specified.
