Video Reference Timing over Fiber
Cameras, switchers and servers in different rooms or buildings only work together when they share a house reference. The Thor F-GL-SYNC-TX/RX kit carries that reference over fiber, handling genlock on CVBS, black burst bi-level sync and tri-level HD sync. Long coaxial sync runs degrade and pick up interference, which shows up as timing errors downstream; an optical path keeps the reference stable regardless of route length or the electrical environment.
Automatic Detection and Signal Quality
The kit supports PAL, SECAM and NTSC bi-level sync alongside tri-level HD sync, and senses automatically which type is present, with front LEDs reporting the result. Bandwidth exceeds 5.8 MHz within 0.2 dB, group delay stays under 10 ns and differential gain and phase are held under 1 percent. SNR is better than 67 dB to CCIR567, so the recovered reference is clean enough to lock professional equipment.
Connectors, Optics and Distance
RF connections are 75 ohm BNC, with one input plus a loop-out on the transmitter and two outputs on the receiver, so an existing reference can pass through without a separate distribution amplifier. The optical side uses a hot-pluggable SFP transceiver with an LC connector on 9/125 single-mode fiber at 1000Base, 1310 nm by default with CWDM options. Optical output is -10 to -3 dB, receiver sensitivity better than -24 dB, reaching up to 20 km.
Enclosure, Power and Package
Each unit is housed in a black aluminum enclosure of 95 by 55 by 25 mm, with a 40 by 100 mm board available for integration into other equipment. Power is DC 5 to 12 V and net weight is 0.75 kg per pair. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 degrees C with storage from -40 to 85 degrees C. The package contains a transmitter and receiver with SFPs, two power adapters and a manual.
Distance Versions and Deployments
Thor lists F-GL-SYNC-TX/RX for 20 km, F-GL-SYNC-TX/RX-40 for 40 km and F-GL-SYNC-TX/RX-80 for 80 km, plus F-GL-SYNC-TX/RX-CWDM covering 1470 through 1610 nm wavelengths for 80 km links that share fiber with other services. Studios, OB facilities, stadiums and multi-building broadcast campuses are the usual sites. Pick the CWDM code when the sync link has to ride an existing multiplexed route rather than a dedicated strand.
