Product Overview +
Many Outputs From One Amplifier
Feeding a large FTTH footprint from a single headend means dividing one amplified signal many ways. This high-power EDFA raises the downstream 1550 nm signal to a total output of up to +36 dBm and distributes it across as many as 32 optical outputs, which avoids stacking several smaller amplifiers and the extra patching that approach brings with it.
Distortion and Noise Performance
Performance figures are quoted for analog video carriage: carrier to noise of 50 dB or better under GT/T 184-2002 test conditions, with C/CTB and C/CSO both 63 dB or better. The noise figure is 6.0 dB or less at 0 dBm optical input, and output power stability holds within 0.5 dBm, so levels at each port remain predictable as the load changes.
Band, Input and Connections
The operating bandwidth is 1545 to 1565 nm and optical input power can run from -5 to +10 dBm. Return loss is 45 dB or better at both input and output, limiting reflections back toward the source laser. Optical connectors are SC/APC throughout, so the fiber plant feeding and leaving the unit must be angle polished to avoid a mismatch at the bulkhead.
Power Supply and Enclosure
The unit accepts AC 160 to 250 V at 50 Hz or DC 48 V, with consumption of 65 W or less. Its chassis measures 437 by 442 by 44 mm for single rack unit mounting. Operating temperature runs from -10 to +45 degrees C with storage from -30 to +70 degrees C, and relative humidity may reach 95 percent without condensation during operation.
Options and Typical Deployments
An optical switch, CWDM and RF detection are offered as options, and SNMP software with a web interface handles remote monitoring and configuration. FTTH headends, cable operator RF overlay and large residential or hospitality fiber networks are the usual settings. Output count and per-port power are specified at order, so StreamPort Media quotes the unit against your distribution plan.
