Triple-Play Amplifier With PON Port
Operators delivering RF video and broadband on one access fiber need both services combined before the split. This high-power EDFA amplifies the downstream 1550 nm video signal to a total output of up to +37 dBm and passes PON traffic through its built-in WDM, so each fiber leaving the headend carries video and data together across large splitter trees.
Pass-Through Bands and Isolation
The CATV pass-through band is 1545 to 1565 nm, matching the amplifier operating bandwidth, while the PON pass-through covers 1260 to 1360 nm and 1480 to 1500 nm. PON insertion loss stays below 0.8 dB and general insertion loss below 1.0 dB, with isolation above 30 dB between paths. Optical switching time, where that option is fitted, is 500 ms or less.
Outputs, Levels and Connectors
Up to 16 optical outputs are supported, with input power from -5 to +10 dBm and a maximum total output of 37 dBm. Output power stability is within 0.5 dBm and the noise figure is 5.5 dB or less at 0 dBm input at 1550 nm. Return loss is 45 dB or better at input and output. Connectors can be SC/APC, SC/UPC, LC/APC or LC/UPC.
Supply, Dimensions and Environment
The chassis measures 437 by 442 by 44 mm, a single rack unit in a 19-inch frame. Power is AC 160 to 250 V at 50 Hz or DC 48 V, suiting both mains-fed headends and DC powered cabinets. Operating temperature is -10 to +45 degrees C and storage -30 to +70 degrees C, with relative humidity up to 95 percent without condensation in either state.
Options and Network Planning
An optical switch, CWDM and RF detection can be added, and SNMP software with web management covers remote monitoring. ISPs scaling FTTH, municipal broadband networks, campus fiber backbones and RF video overlay on PON are typical deployments. Output count and options are configured at order rather than selected from fixed codes, so StreamPort Media quotes each build against your subscriber count and split ratio.
