Product Overview +
Single E1 or T1 Carrier
Telecom circuits usually stop where the copper stops. The F-1E1/T1-Tx-MM extends one T1 or E1 carrier over fiber, letting an operator relocate a smart-jack, interconnect PBX systems or carry a leased circuit between buildings without changing the equipment at either end. This is the multimode transmitter in the family, designed to pair with a matching receiver at the far end. Nothing in the carrier signal is reframed or altered along the way.
Transparent Framed or Unframed Transport
The converter passes the carrier transparently, whether the T1 arrives framed or unframed, using AMI or B8ZS synchronous coding at 1.544 Mbps for T1 or 2.048 Mbps for E1. Error rate is better than ten to the minus twelfth. Full duplex, half duplex and simplex operation are all supported. Digital interface behavior follows ANSI T1.403 and AT&T TR54016 on the T1 side, with ITU G.703 and G.824 on the E1 side.
Electrical and Optical Interfaces
On the copper side there is a 100 ohm RJ45/RJ48 port with a DCE/DTE switch, so the unit can be wired to either side of a circuit without adapters. The optical port uses an SC/APC connector. Transmitter output is quoted at -3 dBm with receiver sensitivity of -30 dBm, and optics are offered at 850 nm, 1310 nm, 1550 nm or CWDM wavelengths depending on the version ordered.
Compact Build and Power
Each unit measures 130 x 106 x 33 mm, small enough to sit on a shelf, inside a cabinet or beside a demarcation point. Power comes from a +12 VDC supply and consumption is about 4 W. The operating range runs from -20 to 65 degrees C with storage from -40 to 85 degrees C, and relative humidity from 5 to 95 percent, which covers most unconditioned equipment rooms.
Pairing and Model Selection
Every link is built from a transmitter and a receiver. This model is the 2 km multimode transmitter and works with F-1E1/T1-Rx-MM; for single-mode spans, F-1E1/T1-Tx-40 and F-1E1/T1-Rx-40 cover 40 km. Carriers, utilities, transport authorities and broadcasters use these units to interconnect PBX systems and move E1 or T1 traffic between sites. StreamPort Media quotes this transmitter per project against your fiber type and distance.
