Product Overview +
Video and PON On One Fiber
Delivering RF video and broadband over the same access network normally means separate couplers at every output. The F-EDFA-CWDM amplifies the 1550 nm CATV signal and, through CWDM passives built into each output port, combines it with the 1310 and 1490 nm PON data streams. Each uplink port connects straight to an OLT PON port, which removes external components from the headend.
EYDFA Gain and Linearity
The amplifier uses erbium-ytterbium doped fiber to reach high total output while keeping distortion low enough for analog RF video. Carrier to noise is 45 dB or better, with CSO and CTB both 63 dB or better. Output power stability is within 0.2 dB, bias oscillation sensitivity is under 0.2 dB, and optical return loss is 45 dB or better across the operating band.
Ports, Wavelengths and Levels
Output models are listed from 27 to 36 dBm in one decibel steps, equivalent to 500 mW up to 4000 mW, with 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64 output points. The amplifying band is 1540 to 1560 nm and input power runs from -10 to -3 dBm. Fiber connectors are SC/APC, and the noise ratio is below 5.0 dB at 0 dBm optical input.
Chassis, Supply and Management
The unit measures 19 by 15 by 3.5 inches, occupying two rack units in a standard frame, and works from 110 to 220 V AC with power loss of 150 W or less. The operating temperature range is -20 to 85 degrees C, which covers headend rooms and less controlled cabinets. An RJ-45 Ethernet port provides web-based management for monitoring the output ports.
Sizing an FTTH Build
ISP and cable operator FTTH builds, residential compounds, hotels and campuses delivering RF video alongside broadband data are the typical deployments, and the design is compatible with common FTTx PON technologies. Output count and power level are chosen at order time rather than from a fixed code list, so configurations are quoted per project. Share your split ratio and subscriber count with StreamPort Media.
